Chivas USA announced on Thursday that it has acquired forward Alan Gordon, a 6'3" striker who has 16 goals in 99 career MLS matches, in a trade with the LA Galaxy.
The Long Beach native was traded in exchange for allocation money, and will join the Red-and-White immediately in Toronto.
"Alan is a big and strong striker who can put the ball in the net," said Chivas USA Head Coach Martín Vásquez. "As we continue to reshape our roster as we push for a spot in the playoffs, this move gives us depth up front. We're excited for Alan to join the squad."
"I feel really excited about this opportunity, excited to get on the field and help the squad get to the playoffs," said Gordon. "I'm a goalscorer and that's always a good weapon to have on a team."
Gordon, 28, was selected 53rd overall in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft by the Galaxy, and has made 99 career MLS appearances, scoring 16 goals and adding 12 assists.
