Former Juventus goalkeeper coach Franco Tancredi says Gigi Buffon should not have been allowed to leave this summer.
However, Tancredi has also jumped to the defence of Wojciech Szczesny after his error in defeat to Napoli last night.
Speaking with TMW, Tancredi began by admitting Juve should've moved for PSG goalkeeper Gigio Donnarumma when he was leaving AC Milan last summer.
He stated: "You would have been okay for at least 10 years. Of course, he too made his mistakes but he is reactive and has athletic power. And then he is a national champion of Europe...
"Mattia Perin is a good goalkeeper, but it's not like he made Buffon's career. So for now it's right to go on like this. Even if Szczesny's mistake on (Lorenzo) Insigne's shot ... who knows where Buffon would have pushed it?
"Listen to an old goalkeeper like me: the first rule, when you're not sure to block it, you push it as sideways as possible. And he didn't."
On Parma keeper Buffon, he added: "Without a doubt ... if I had been a Juventus manager I would have made Buffon play another year as a starter."
