Ex-Hibs striker McManus urges Tierney to leave Arsenal

Former Hibs striker Tam McManus says Kieran Tierney is too good for Arsenal.

Tierney is in his second season with the Gunners, having arrived from Celtic, and has proved himself one of the few positive stories in a struggling campaign for Arsenal this season.

For McManus, the Scotland left-back has already outgrown Arsenal and should be shooting for higher in terms of his career.

McManus told PLZ Soccer via Fotboll Transfers: "He should leave this summer.

"There is nothing attractive with Arsenal right now, they have nothing special and to be completely honest they are going backwards. In my opinion, he is too good for Arsenal."

Indeed for McManus, Tierney and his management team need to start looking around if he wishes to fulfill the potential career.

He added: "Tierney can go to any club in the Premier League. Arsenal is at most a top-eight club."

Despite an injury-plagued campaign, Tierney has still managed 35 appearances for Arsenal this season, scoring twice and producing four assists. He has a contract with the Gunners to 2024.

Arsenal currently sit ninth on the Premier League table after victory over West Brom on the weekend.

McManus, meanwhile, spent eight years with Hibs and is now an established pundit in Scotland.
