Ex-Fulham star McBride considers Chicago Fire future

Former Fulham hero Brian McBride is considering his future with the Chicago Fire.

The 37-year old striker admits that there may be some things to sort out with the club before he commits to a new deal but the fact the MLS have him under contract for another year means he will not be going anywhere outside of the competition.

"I'm not going to be going anywhere else in MLS," McBride said. "We will see what happens with MLS."

McBride almost completely ruled out a return to England, saying it would be far too hard a move to make at this stage of his career.

"For me and my family, that would be a pretty difficult move," McBride added. "We have to think about our livelihood, of course, but I would say that would be pretty hard to do."

The former USA international admitted it was a disappointing end to the Fire's season, losing in penalties to Real Salt Lake in the Eastern Conference final last week, adding that in some ways it was a failure to not reach the MLS Cup final.

"We didn't get where we wanted to," McBride added. "It wasn't a bad season, just not exactly what we hoped it would be. We started off well, and the finish I would love for it to go better, but it only happens that way for one team."
