Former Everton and Leeds United star Gary Speed admits he grew up idolising a star from another sport.

The Wales coach says Sir Ian Botham was his hero.

He told the Daily Mail: "Sir Ian Botham - I was a half-decent cricketer as a kid. I played for Wales schools at cricket - I never made the football team. I was an all-rounder, a medium-quick bowler who batted, so you could see why it was Botham who captured my attention."
