Ex-Everton star Nevin convinced Europe push is on

Former Everton star Pat Nevin believes his old club can qualify for Europe this season.

The former Blues winger was a BBC Radio pundit last Monday when David Moyes' men defeated Manchester United at Goodison Park and is now expecting big things from the campaign ahead.

"If you can keep everyone fit then this is a team that should be top six," Nevin told evertonfc.com. "That's not to put any pressure on anyone at Everton but the team is capable of top six. The players and the manager always aim high and if they can keep everyone fit, who knows? After last season everyone should be confident.

"With regard to cup competitions it's all about the draw. If Everton get decent draws then there's no reason why they can't go all the way.

"I wouldn't be surprised if Everton get to the semi-final or the final of one of the cups. But the big thing is trying to get to the top levels of the league. It's really tough to finish in the top four, and especially to do it year after year. But Newcastle pushed for it last year."
