Former England and Rangers captain Terry Butcher is in the frame for the job at Port Vale.
The Sentinel says the 55 year old has been out of management since he was sacked by Hibernian in June following their relegation to the Scottish Championship.
Butcher had taken charge of Hibs last November and his players included Ryan McGivern, who moved to Vale in the summer.
