Ex-England boss Hoddle: Austin influence key to QPR survival hopes

Glenn Hoddle has identified Charlie Austin as the key to QPR's chances of staving off relegation this season.

The 25-year old striker has scored 14 of the R's 27 Premier League goals this campaign and former England, Tottenham and Loftus Road boss Hoddle feels he is the man Chris Ramsey needs to call on to avoid the drop.

"We all agreed from the start of the season that it was going to be tough job (at QPR)," Hoddle said on talkSPORT.

"There are five or six teams that knew it would be nip and tuck right until the end.

"QPR have enough ability to stay out of the bottom three. They've got to keep Charlie Austin fit though. They've also got to keep 11 players on the pitch."

QPR currently sit 18th on the league table ahead of Wednesday's home fixture with third-placed Arsenal.
