Ex-CSKA coach Olic urges Vlasic to fight for West Ham future

Former CSKA Moscow coach Ivica Olic has urged Nikola Vlasic to tough it out at West Ham.

Vlasic has been linked with a move away after a tough season in London.

Olic told Metaratings: "Nikola didn't have the best season in England. It seems to me that the main reason is that he came almost on the last day of preseason, and West Ham already had a team formed. Nikola took time to adapt to the league. West Ham played well, Vlašić had strong competitors in his position. Nikola mostly played in the Europa League, David Moyes did not replace him, but in the Premier League he remained a reserve player.

"I believe in Vlašić and I know there are a lot of teams that would like to sign him or take him on loan. If West Ham give him the opportunity, then Nikola will change the team where he will be given time to play and where he can get in better shape. This will help him once again become one of the leaders of the Croatian national team. I wish him this from the bottom of my heart. It takes time, Nikola will gain his.

Return to CSKA? I don't think it will happen. I spoke with him, he wants to stay in Europe, for example, to try himself in the German or Spanish championships. He has options."
