Sydney FC star Nick Carle said it would be an honour to play alongside Harry Kewell, who continues to be linked with a move to the A-League.
The former Leeds United, Liverpool and Galatasaray winger has been tracked by the Sky Blues, as well as fellow two-time A-League champions Melbourne Victory, and the ex-Crystal Palace man would welcome his arrival.
"He's arguably the best players that's ever come out of Australia so it'd be an honour to play with him here at Sydney FC," Carle told Sportal.
"It'd be brilliant if we could get him, but in terms of the league as well I think anyone that got him, it'd be brilliant for the league.
"Obviously for us as a change room we'd love to have him, not only because of the publicity that he'd bring to the league but his capability as a player.
He added: "It's left in the club's hands, it's out of our hands but from a player's point of view obviously we'd love to have him.
"And from an A-League point of view as well I think it's very important that we do manage to get someone like Harry back."
