Former Chelsea defender David Luiz has urged PSG fans not to judge him on Brazil's 7-1 World Cup thrashing by Germany.
The centre-half spoke out as he was unveiled by Paris St Germain today, having joined from Chelsea for £50million, a world record fee for a defender.
The deal was agreed before the World Cup and Luiz's performance in the semi-final mauling, suggested that PSG had paid over the odds.
But he said today: "If the World Cup had finished at the quarter?final stage then you wouldn't be asking questions about my ability.
"I've had time to digest the end of our World Cup and now I'm ready to do everything to help PSG. I'm part of a fantastic team in which everyone has something to teach me. It's wonderful to be part of this project."
