The Scotland midfielder was given a second chance at the Premier League when he was signed by Roberto Martinez in 2011 following what some would say was a missed opportunity at Aston Villa.
After kicking off his career with Celtic in 2000 and returning to Parkhead in 2008, Maloney now feels like he has learned enough about his game from Martinez to be completely at ease among the world's best.
"The manager here has been great," the 30-year old told SunSport.
"His training is good and he encourages us to play in the right way.
"He's also the first foreign manager I've worked under and it's a different style.
"I may be needed to learn certain things to feel accepted at this level.
"But tactically he's got his own philosophy and that's not something I've had too much experience of."
