Gianfranco Zola could be under pressure if Cagliari president Massimo Cellino is successful with his takeover bid.
Sky Italia says Cellino is already in London for negotiations and the move could be completed as early as this week.
However, Sky Sport Italia maintains that plans are afoot to make big changes at the club.
Zola returned to his hometown of Cagliari to finish his playing career, but the rapport between him and Cellino soured towards the end.
It's reported that the new patron's first move would be to sack struggling Zola and bring in another former Cagliari Coach, Arrigoni.
