Ex-Brisbane Roar skipper Moore struggling to get game time

Former Brisbane Roar captain Craig Moore is finding it difficult to get game time in the lead-up to June's World Cup.

The veteran Socceroos defender is back in Brisbane following a short stint in Greece with AO Kavala and has been training with Queensland State League side Brisbane Strikers.

Moore is keen to get some games under his belt before going into camp with the Australian national team but there has been some trouble in getting the appropriate paperwork from Greece.

In a club statement, the Strikers said: "Moore is keen to play a few games for the Strikers in the Hyundai QSL as part of his fitness preparations for the forthcoming World Cup Finals and had been hoping to gain a clearance from his current club, Greek outfit Kavala, in time to take the field for the Strikers against the Far North Queensland Bulls.

"However, the combined efforts over the past eight days of Football Federation Australia, Football Queensland and the Brisbane Strikers have failed to convince Greek football authorities to put the necessary signatures on paper, leaving Moore obliged to be no more than a face in the crowd as he watches his prospective team mates go through their paces."

Moore and the Strikers are hoping his clearance goes through before this weekend's clash with QAS.
