Ex-Bournemouth, Leicester striker Yann Kermorgant announces retirement

Former Leicester City striker Yann Kermorgant has announced his retirement.

He had been playing for hometown club Vannes in France's fourth tier, but with the season cancelled amid the coronavirus, he has chosen to hang up his boots.

On his time in England, Kermorgant told Ouest France: “Apart from my first somewhat complicated experience in Leicester, it was great at other clubs, with the supporters too."

Asked for his regrets, the former forward did not bring up the infamous tie in Cardiff.

He said: “There are some things I cannot change: that of being let go by Bournemouth at an advanced age which did not allow me to have my chance in the Premier League [just seven matches].

“I was also annoyed losing on penalties in the play-off final with Reading against Huddersfield [in 2017]. There was also a relegation with Reims."
