Ex-Blackpool defender Carney set for Nottingham Forest

David Carney is set to reunite with Steve McClaren when he signs with Nottingham Forest today.

Reports in the UK suggests that the 27-year old Australian international could join the Championship club as early as Monday as a free agent after his contract with relegated Blackpool expired at the end of last season.

Carney and Forest boss McClaren worked together at Dutch club FC Twente, where they triumphed with the 2009/10 Eredivisie title, and are now set to join forces again.

Forest have endured a tough start to their promotion campaign, drawing 0-0 with Barsnley on the opening weekend before losing 2-0 at Millwall on Saturday.

Carney has experienced England's second tier competition previously when he spent two years with Sheffield United which included a loan with Premier League newcomers Norwich City.
