Former Sheffield Wednesday, Blackburn Rovers and Crystal Palace striker Shefki Kuqi is closing in on a shock return to the Premier League with Newcastle United.
The 34-year old Finnish attacker, who ended his time with Swansea City last month, is being brought in by Magpies Alan Pardew after his striking stocks were ravaged by transfer and injury.
Kuqi, who is available as a free agent, is to undergo a medical at St James' Park before agreeing a short-term deal with Newcastle.
