Real Sociedad coach Eusebio Sacristan says Rafa Benitez deserves some credit for Real Madrid's revival under Zinedine Zidane.

The Newcastle United manager was sacked and replaced by Zidane this time last year.

Former Barcelona B boss Eusebio told Efe: "Zinedine Zidane does things very well, he has merit. Whether it is the way he manages the locker room but also what his team offers in terms of football.

"The Real Madrid of before was more flaky but now they have a solid defence.

"But do not forget Rafael Benitez. He has shown in his career he employed very well the tactical aspects and I would not say that Real Madrid has no remains of his influence."
