Ex-Arsenal star Henry delighted to be in New York

Thierry Henry insists he is loving his time with MLS giants New York Red Bulls. The former Arsenal and Barcelona star joined the club in July last year and has revealed that he was always gunning for a move to the 'Big Apple' to play out his career.

Henry says he is loving being able to get around in a city full of other sports stars and feels he has fit in well with the Red Bulls.

"That's the part I enjoy the most, that I used to hate the most back in Europe. I'm happy to be here and I don't want to go back,'' he said.

"At Arsenal, I always said I'll end up playing for a team in New York; I always wanted to come here and fight for this team.

"I'm so happy finally I can be fit.''

Good friend Steve Nash, the Phoenix Suns pointguard and Vancouver Whitecaps part-owner, said Henry's presence had done so much for MLS.

"He's a great guy, down to earth, simple,'' Nash said. "He's important for the league, and for soccer in this country.''

Whilst another NBA star, Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs, was delighted Henry had settled well in New York.

"Even when he was playing in Europe, he always (said) I want to come play in New York, I love that city, I want to live here,'' said Parker.

"I'm just happy for him. Hopefully they can win a championship."
