Former Arsenal goalkeeper Alex Manninger is set to do preseason with Liverpool.

The Daily Express says he's headed to Merseyside for pre-season training with Liverpool in the hope of landing a contract.

Manninger could be drafted in as experienced third-choice, with youngster Ryan Fulton on loan at Chesterfield and Danny Ward expected to join Championship outfit Huddersfield.

The 39-year-old turned out for German side Augsburg last season, but was released at the end of the campaign.

Manninger made 63 starts in five years at Arsenal.
