Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says FIFA needs to reduce the number of matches played at the top level.
Wenger currently acts as a technical advisor to FIFA.
"Reduce the number of matches. This is very important because we can see the state of play of the players," he told Kicker.
“I always had the feeling that having many (international) periods but shorter was more unfavorable for the player."
The Alsatian advocates "one or two" international breaks instead of five currently. That the national teams "meet in October, play seven qualifying matches over a month, then the tournament in June", in particular to “limit the risk of injury".
