Ex-Arsenal, Barcelona star Henry: Players bringing more focus on racist fans
Thierry Henry suggests that payers these days are making the media and general public more aware of the racism situation in football.
Recent incidences involving AZ Alkmaar's Jozy Altidore and AC Milan's Kevin-Prince Boateng have been noted due to the player taking a stand and New York Red Bull star Henry has indicated that there is now more attention on misbehaving supporters.
"It's not that it is happening more, it's more that the players are making people notice it more," he told The Associated Press.
"A lot of the time, a player used to go along with it, so you guys wouldn't have known about it. Now the players are calling the ref and pointing at the guy and saying that guy is saying something bad."
When asked what sanctions can be taken, Henry felt that points deductions would force clubs to contain any racist behaviour from fans.
"Maybe take some points away," Henry said. "I'm not in charge of taking control of all the stuff. Those are only suggestions."
