Evra turns his attention to France qualification for World Cup

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra is desperate for France to qualify for next summer's World Cup, if only to prevent getting stick from his Old Trafford colleagues. "I'm very focused on getting to the World Cup with France. I think if we don't qualify there will be a lot of jokes," Evra told United's official website.

"Last year when England didn't qualify for Euro 2008, I told the England players at United that they could borrow my remote control because they would be watching a lot of TV.

"I don't want to give them the opportunity (of revenge) - that's my main ambition!"

France are currently four points behind leaders Serbia in their qualifying group, after a disappointing.

"My focus is now on the national team, and our games with the Faroe Islands and Austria," he added.

"We haven't been in a good position, we're probably going to have to go through the play-offs - but I trust in my team.

"We have a lot of excellent players but maybe we've under-performed. We were very disappointed with the European Championships, going out in the first stage. But I think we are playing well now.

"We only picked up two points in our last two games against Romania and Serbia but we played so well.

"People didn't criticise us either. They just said, 'unlucky.' I never like to use that word but this time we were unlucky."
