Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta is eyeing a place in Spain's World Cup squad as he recovers from knee surgery.

He said: "That (a World Cup place) would be the best present for me for all the work I've been doing these past few months. If I will have that chance back it will be the best thing ever.

"Spain has got a chance now in every competition because they have a confidence that they can beat any team. They have good players, in good form. We will just have to see the condition of the players when we get to the World Cup."
