Evertonians Joey Barton and Mike Parry are exchanging verbal blows over fellow talkSPORT host Jim White.

The Mirror reports Parry claimed that White suffered from "chronic historic drinking problems".

Former Burnley midfielder Barton criticised Parry for his remarks, which were made on Twitter, before being targeted with a barrage of abuse himself.

Parry, who has worked for talkSPORT since 1999, branded banned footballer Barton a "thick-headed hypocrite" after listing indiscretions from throughout his career.

Veteran presenter Parry, 82, has apologised for his comments about White.
