Newcastle striker Alan Smith doesn't know if he will be allowed to join Everton in the coming days.

The Daily Star says the striker has been left stunned after the club's U-turn over his proposed £3m move to Everton.

Smith is in a state of limbo after first being told a bid had been accepted and he was free to talk with David Moyes - only for another senior figure within the club to tell him that he was staying on Tyneside.

And yesterday at training, the confused player told team-mates he didn't have a clue where his future lies.
