Everton have launched a bid for River Plate striker Rafael Santos Borre.

Fox Sports says Everton have offered €15m for Santos Borre, who featured in the weekend's Copa Libertadores final defeat to Flamengo.

However, River have turned down the bid - referring Everton to the striker's buyout clause.

If Everton want to sign Santos Borre in January they'll have to cough up €30m to meet his escape option.

Santos Borre is a Colombia international.
