Everton striker Jo grateful to Moyes for "trust"

Everton striker Jo has hailed the influence of manager David Moyes on his performance in victory over Bolton Wanderers.

"The manager has put a lot of trust in me so that when I went into the game I did feel confident even though I had not played in a while," said Jo.

"Of course the two goals help too - that was great for my confidence. He is very good for building players confidence.

"It is really good that the manager has trust and will give you a chance. The players always feel confident with that trust in them."

After scoring a superb volley in the first five minutes of the second-half, skipper Phil Neville handed Everton's injury-time spotkick to the debutant in the absence of the substituted Mikel Arteta. Jo was keen thank the captain for his kind offering.

"Phil told me that it was my prize for the work I had done," revealed the Brazilian on evertonfc.com. "It was a really nice gesture of the captain to make.

"The players were great, really friendly and the spirit was good as they told me. Two goals as well makes it the best possible welcome I could ever hope for."
