Everton midfield schemer Mikel Arteta admits he's a huge fan of Manchester United legend Paul Scholes.

This weekend Arteta, who could be wearing the captain's armband if Phil Neville fails to recover from a foot injury, will attempt to stifle the veteran.

Yet the Spaniard knows that will not be easy as he feels Scholes is the complete midfielder.

"He is just brilliant," Arteta told evertontv. "When I used to watch him when I was a younger player I always admired him a lot.

"He has all the qualities you want from a midfielder. He gets forward and scores goals, his passing is unbelievable and he is also a really humble man away from the pitch. He has been absolutely magnificent for Manchester United.

"Scholes is someone you can learn from," Arteta added. "He makes it very difficult for you on the pitch but you always want to play against the best to see where you are and also to challenge yourself."
