Everton skipper Neville: Premiership tickets too expensive

Everton captain Phil Neville is urging Premiership clubs to drop the prices of tickets.

Neville said: "Grounds aren't as full as they normally are at this time of year.

"It is expensive to go and watch football.

"Maybe fans are picking and choosing which games they can afford to go and watch, particularly with Christmas coming up.

"It's an expensive time of year."

Bolton Wanderers have been one of the first clubs to take drastic action - making offers like 'pie and pint' deals and cheaper travel to away games.

And Trotters chairman Phil Gartside insists other clubs will have no choice but to follow suit.

Gartside said: "I've seen the crowd figures for clubs at the higher end of the league and they're struggling to fill their grounds as well.

"We're all going to have to take a look at how we go about pricing."

He added: "We've recognised it's expensive to go to football.

"We've reduced our prices over last three years and this year we've ended up with a junior ticket that costs £99 for under-16s."
