Everton set to sign Sporting Lisbon starlet Dier

Sporting Lisbon teenager Eric Dier is to be snapped up by Everton according to reports.

The Toffees will bring the 17-year old starlet on loan from the Portuguese giants from the remainder of the season it was revealed on the Sporting website.

Born in England, Dier moved to Portugal with his parents when has seven years old and although his folks have since moved back home, he decided to sign a contract keeping him in Lisbon until 2013.

But he will spend the next few months developing at Goodison Park according to Sporting's official website which read: "Eric Dier, central defender of the Sporting Lisbon junior team, has joined Everton on loan until June 30, 2011.

"This is an opportunity for him to grow in a competitive and more demanding environment."

Dier could be eligible for dual nationality when he turns 18 meaning he may have to choose between England and Portugal.
