Everton's Cahill delighted to break goal drought

Everton star Tim Cahill was delighted he managed to break a 14-game goal drought when he netted a late equaliser against Tottenham on Sunday. The Australian international marked his 30th birthday with an 86th minute low-diving header that gave the Toffees a share of the points after trailing 2-0 with 12 minutes to go.

Cahill said he was very relieved to be back amongst the goals for the club he has been skippering recently.

"It's been hard," he said. "I've been trying to get in areas to score and it came against Tottenham. I'm happy for the team and happy with a great result."

It was just Cahill's third goal of the league season but hopes it kickstarts a run of good form for both he and his club who unearthed a brilliant youngster in Seamus Coleman on the weekend who produced a man-of-the-match performance.

"He was fantastic," said Cahill. "His attitude is one of the best things about him. He never stops, works hard in training and loves being part of the team.

"As captain, I'm proud of him and he deserves it.

"I've spoken about the young lads stepping up and taking the opportunity to do well and this is their chance. They've got to take it and be consistent.

"Now it's about helping Seamus learn how to play in the Premier League. Against Tottenham, he showed how well he is learning."
