Everton star Tim Cahill is delighted that his good friend and teammate Mikle Arteta signed a new deal with the club.
Cahill was the Spaniard's best man at his wedding last month and was thrilled when he heard the news that Arteta had penned a long-term deal to stay at Goodison Park.
"We have spent a hell of a lot of time together over the summer," he told evertontv.
"He is someone who thinks the world of Everton, like myself.
"I was always in his ear and when he put pen to paper I was one of the first people he spoke to and I was over the moon."
Everton were beaten 1-0 by Blackburn Rovers in their opening English Premier League match on the weekend but are looking forward to redeeming themselves against Wolves at Goodison Park this Saturday.
"There is so much anticipation for the home game," he added.
"It is another hard game but it is exciting just to play and see what happens."
