Serie A clubs are competing with Everton for free agent Ron Vlaar.

The former Aston Villa captain is recovering from knee surgery and is in contact with Lazio, AC Milan and Inter Milan.

However, the Liverpool Echo says Everton boss Roberto Martinez wants to bring Vlaar back to England.

The defender is in talks with Lazio, which are keen to deal him in as soon as he proves his fitness.

However, Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini is also keen. The Italian is a big fan of Vlaar.
