Everton move to upgrade Coleman deal to ward off Arsenal

Everton are ready to hand Seamus Coleman a new contract.

The People says the Ireland right-back, who scored an own goal in the 2-0 defeat at Southampton on Saturday, is set for a pay hike at Goodison despite only recently signing a four-year contract.

Coleman is happy to stay on Merseyside, but Arsenal would more than double his current £30,000-a-week salary.

David Moyes was keen on landing Coleman for Manchester United but his exit has put that bid on hold.
