Everton have lost Victor Anichebe for the start of the season after he was named in Nigeria's Olympics squad today.

The striker is in a 26-man provisional squad and will leave for a training camp in South Korea on Tuesday.

There the squad will be whittled down to the 22 that will compete in the Games at Beijing, with Nigeria's first match against Netherlands on 7 August.

If Nigeria make the final on 23 August, Anichebe could miss the first two games of the new Premier League season.
