Everton legend Southall urges board to stand by Lampard

Everton legend Neville Southall wants the club's board to back manager Frank Lampard.

Many supporters want to see the back of Lampard after the team's miserable 4-1 loss to Brighton at home on Tuesday.

The Toffees are firmly in a relegation scrap, with their form in recent months trending downward.

However, Southall still appears to have faith in Lampard to right the ship.

He tweeted: "If the board sack Lampard it's another failure by them. If they back him then give him a chance to buy quality.

"Me personally would rather him stay.

“He maybe responsible for the players but at end of day they owe it too themselves to perform.

“Personal responsibility Is everything."
