Everton legend Peter Reid doesn't believe Barcelona star Lionel Messi will have to survive the kicking Diego Maradona received in the 1980s.
Maradona's career was almost cut short when he was brutally hacked down by 'The Butcher of Bilbao' Andoni Goikoetxea while playing for Barcelona.
And some fear Messi is in danger of suffering a career-ending injury as teams begin to target him.
But Reid said: "There'll be people out there trying to stop Messi but no-one will try to do him."
