Everton are in talks with Ajax for Davy Klaassen.

The Mirror says Everton are closing in on a £20 million deal for Ajax skipper Klaassen.

Boss Ronald Koeman had made the Netherlands international midfielder a priority signing, and the Toffees hope to have him signed in the next 10 days.

Koeman, who made a scouting trip to watch the 24-year-old in the flesh, said: “It is difficult for a lot of technical and skilful players because the demands in England are so big.

"But Davy Klaassen has made very big steps."
