Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell missed the 2-1 victory over Wolves on Saturday with a rib injury sustained during his international debut for England against Sweden last week. Bur Toffees boss David Moyes is hoping the youngster will be fit to return for this weekend's Barclays Premier League trip to Bolton.
An X-ray has ruled out serious damage but the Toffees are still to learn the extent of the problem.
Moyes said: "We are not sure if it is a twist or a kick - if it is a kick it won't be too long but if it is a twist it will be a bit longer."
Moyes is also hoping key defender Sylvain Distin can make a quick return from injury.
He said: "Sylvain has got a bit of a problem with his groin and it is a miss because we need those boys."
