After it was confirmed that Mikel Arteta will miss the rest of the season, Everton are hoping for better news on Victor Anichebe.
The striker was on the end of a poor challenge from Newcastle United's Kevin Nolan on the weekend and left the pitch immediately after the incident.
The club is hopeful that he has not suffered any damage on his knee and hope it is just bruising to the shin.
Victor is extremely sore all up his shin, the outside of his ankle and his knee," Everton head physio Mick Rathbone told the club's offical website.
"The shin is badly bruised obviously, it's swollen as well. Our concern is with the knee really.
"We think he's okay - you never know - but I think he's just about got away with it.
"He bent his knee so the strain came on the outside of the knee. It was difficult. There was no obvious significant injury to the shin."
