Everton fullback Leighton Baines says he never lost faith in his ability after a difficult start to his Goodison career.
He said: "There has been a nice turnaround in my own fortunes recently, after a difficult start to the season when I couldn't even get into the Everton side.
"But I have always believed in myself, and things have improved over the last few months. I am certainly happier now in myself than I have been at any time since joining the club.
"Things have gone OK for me recently, even with an England call-up this term although I have not been included in the latest squad.
"But I aim to work on that and concentrate my energies during the summer to coming back next season fighting fit to impress the boss and the England manager.
"Next season is a big one for a lot of people, me included, with the World Cup coming up."
