Reports in the French press claim that Everton are taking a close interest in Marseille midfielder Lorik Cana.

The Toffees apparently dispatched a scout to watch the Albania international in action during L'OM's Uefa Cup victory over Spartak Moscow on February 13.

Whilst European giants such as Roma and Bayern Munich have also been linked with the 24-year-old, Merseyside could be an alternative destination for Cana should he depart France this summer.

It remains to be seen whether Cana is Everton's first choice as they also have the option to tie up permanent deals for Manuel Fernandes and Steven Pienaar, and in any case the player seems to be happy with life in Marseille at present.
