Everton eyeing River Plate midfielder De La Cruz as Sigurdsson replacement

Everton are interested in signing River Plate midfielder Nico De La Cruz.

The attacker has a £19 million release clause, and Everton are thinking about triggering it.

According to Ole, the Toffees are eyeing De La Cruz as a replacement for Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Most Everton fans are unhappy with what Sigurdsson has produced this term.

And the exciting De La Cruz may be exactly what they want in that attacking midfield role.

He is only 22 and has managed ten goals and assists in 17 games for River Plate this term.

"Nico De La Cruz is going through an incredible moment," River coach Marcelo Gallardo told InfoBae recently.

"He is a player who has matured a lot. It was difficult for him to assimilate that demand from the club but today he is consolidated. Let's hope he continues like this."
