Everton due bumper windfall after Man City Champions League win

Everton are set for a financial windfall thanks to Manchester City winning the Champions League.

The Toffees are set to benefit from a clause within the contract that took John Stones to City.

The centre back, who played 95 times for Everton, joined City several years ago in a big money deal.

Per the Liverpool Echo, one of the clauses within the deal included £2.5 million if City won the Champions League.

Now that City have won that trophy, Everton will earn a sum that is almost equal to what they paid Barnsley to secure him in 2013.

The Toffees can put that money towards their summer transfer plans, given manager Sean Dyche will have a limited budget.
