Everton are challenging Manchester City for Leeds United defender Sam Byram.

The Sun says David Moyes is ready to fight Roberto Mancini for the £10million capture of Leeds ace Byram.

Manchester City boss Mancini has already earmarked the right-sided player, 19, as a top target.

But the deposed Premier League champions face fierce competition from Everton chief Moyes, who has identified the whizkid as a perfect replacement for Phil Neville.

Skipper Neville, 36, is leaving Goodison at the end of the season.
