Everton boss Dave Moyes insists he had no doubts about paying Middlesbrough a club record £11.25 million for Yakubu Aiyegbeni.

He told the LMA website: "Did I take a deep breath (before spending a club-record sum)?

"No, because I think that in today's market what we've spent on Yakubu is pretty middle of the road as far signings go and as far as the money we spend.

"If I'm having to take a deep breath, well I think a few (managers) are gasping for oxygen by what they are spending."
