Everton boss Moyes welcomes Jagielka, Lescott contracts

Everton boss David Moyes is delighted Joleon Lescott and Phil Jagielka have signed new contracts.

"It's good news," Moyes told evertonfc.com. "The Club got it tied up really quietly, nice and sharply, so it's good.

"We've been on it for quite a while, and I'm delighted we've got them. Getting the security of both players is another step forward.

"Both of them are young centre-halves, so you're getting the best years out of them at their ages, Joseph Yobo is 28 going to be 29, and Phil Jagielka is still young, and still has that period to come.

"We wanted to secure the people we've already got at the Club. And the Club are really good at it, they've gone about their business well in the past, and have made sure we've kept the players that really matter to us. But the next bit is to keep adding on top of that, and make sure we are continually building."
