Everton boss David Moyes praised Apostolos Vellios for fighting his way back into the first team.

Moyes says he has done enough to force his way back into the set-up, after scoring a hat-trick for the reserves last week.

He said: "Tollos just dropped off a little bit. He's only 19 and young boys need to be put back sometimes when their training is not so good.

"He just dropped down a little bit in the last month. Sometimes the boys who come from abroad find Christmas and New Year a bit of a tough period because they're used to having a couple of weeks' break at least over Christmas and New Year.

"But his goals in the reserves will have done him a world of good and hopefully he's back on track."
