Everton boss David Moyes says Leighton Baines is being treated poorly by England.
Moyes admits Baines is paying the price for suggesting he would have been homesick in South Africa with the England squad.
Moyes said: "I think Bainesy's form merits a recall because he's as good as any left-back in the country.
"Whatever the management's reasons for not picking him, it can't be because of his form. He's creative, joining in and looking more mature in his play.
"But when he said he'd get homesick, he said the wrong thing. He knows he probably let himself down. He should have been more positive."
Baines was left out of Capello's World Cup squad and hasn't featured since, but his recent form and the absence of Ashley Cole might have led to another opportunity.
Instead Capello went with Arsenal reserve Kieran Gibbs, and later Aston Villa's Stephen Warnock against France. Moyes said: "We thought this was the squad he could be fed back into, to see if there was any change."
